Prime Function
Acts as an intermediary between the user community and the technical community working with IT project teams and business clients to collect, clarify and translate business requirements into documentation and conceptual design (using appropriate tools and models) from which application and solutions are developed. Responsible for defining (or redefining) business needs for new and/or enhanced products,
services or optimized business processes.
Some Specific Functions Of This Role
Through a combination of strong business understanding, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and excellent interviewing and facilitating techniques, the Sr Bus. Analyst.
- Acts as Project Leader for components of medium to large projects, directs and coordinates project staff and activities
- Facilitates meetings with business partners, keeps team members informed of discussions with business, maintains up-dated documentation on applications, and shares with project team any new findings including best practices
- Supports workflow analysis
- Defines and documents user requirements
- Identifies issues and recommends solutions
- Supports business units by investigating operational related problems/inquiries, and recommends and implements solutions
- Writes quotes and proposals
- Develops user documentation
- Participates in user training
- Provides content for job aids and other user manuals
- Provides consultancy and input into the test strategy; designs test plans at the unit, application, and application system level
Experience/Education Requirements- University degree/college diploma, or equivalent
- business experience 4 to 6 years progressive business analysis experience, supporting medium to large size projects
- Communication and interpersonal skills generally of a higher order than other roles at this grade
- Use of interviewing, probing, influencing and other
- communications skills to an exceptional degree
- Explicit knowledge of: testing strategies, test plans, execution
- Logical Database Modeling/Design
- Office productivity tools and practices
- Knowledge of sizing and costing projects, feasibility studies
- Ability to apply business, data, process, and object-oriented modeling techniques
- Must have strong problem solving and analytical skills
